Ticketek Launches On-Site Ticket Buying Technology for iPhone

TEG

TEG-owned Ticketek has launched its new App Clip to allow fans with an iPhone to buy mobile tickets outside venues on the day of an event.

The technology, released with iOS 14, is a bite-sized version of an app that gives customers access to its main functions without having to download the full app to their phones.

The Ticketek App Clip allows fans to scan a designated QR code or tap an NFC tag outside a venue to securely purchase tickets in two taps using Apple Pay.

Tickets can be delivered straight to a customer’s iPhone and stored in Apple Wallet, meaning fans can quickly buy tickets on event day, whether they have downloaded the Ticketek App or not.

Cameron Hoy, managing director of ticketing for Ticketek’s parent company TEG, said the new feature is part of a suite of Ticketek products designed to migrate customers away from traditional box offices to contactless technology.

He said: “We are thrilled to bring another world-first to Ticketek fans in the form of our fastest, most convenient path to purchase yet. The Ticketek App Clip will create a frictionless event day experience for fans, giving them access to mobile tickets in as few as two taps.”

The Ticketek App Clip was trialled successfully earlier this month at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It will launch officially on May 15 at the Sydney Swans versus Collingwood game at the SCG before being rolled out across Ticketek’s Australian venues then its global venue network.

SCG chief executive Kerrie Mather said: “We are delighted to be working with Ticketek as our ticketing and technology partner to bring world leading solutions to our customers. The Ticketek App Clip will make it even easier to see the biggest and best events live at the SCG.”
